Heating for your home can often be compromised by a fight between being warm and saving money. While there are savings to be made just by insulating your home, eventually it comes down to a compromise between the rising costs of traditional heating.
Over the past year the cost of heating oil has risen sharply and anyone off of the gas mains who relies on oil to keep their home warm over the winter will know not to expect things to improve. Mains gas hasn't been getting any cheaper either, and even having the best insulation and most efficient boiler you'll still notice your heating bills going up and up.

Renewable heating comes in a variety of forms, but the one that gives you the best of all world is solid fuel. Perfect as either an alternative or supplementary source of heating.
Firewood has many benefits, aside from being available from local sources.
Firewood is renewable, and if it is taken from FSC approved supplier you can be sure that at least one new tree is planted for each tree cut down. |
As no more carbon is released from burning firewood than is absorbed by the tree as it grew, wood is a carbon neutral fuel. Although you are releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere from burning wood, it can be no more than the tree took from the air during it's life, meaning a net balance over the life of the wood.
